Boxing Betting Prop Bets for Sturm vs Soliman

Felix Sturm and Sam Soliman are set to fight in the IBF middleweight title eliminator bout on February 1st.  I thought this was a good opportunity to make a post showcasing the different boxing prop bets you can make on a high profile fight such as this.

First let’s look at the basic ‘fight winner odds’ for the fight.  Here are the odds fromBet365.com.

Felix Sturm -800
Sam Soliman +450

Sturm is a pretty big favorite to win this fight, but in boxing there is almost always a significant favorite heading into the fight so this isn’t uncommon.

Now we will look at the various prop bets also offered by Bet365.

Total Rounds

Over 9.5 -800
Under 9.5 +450

For this prop bet, the over bet would pay out if the fight gets further than 1 minute and 30 seconds into the 10th round, while the under bet would payout if their is a stoppage prior to this time.  As you can see the fight is expected to go into the late rounds, with a knockout being unlikely.

Round Betting

Bet365 is also offering round betting, which is where you can bet on which round either fighter will win in.  There are too many odds to show here so visit Bet365.com if you want to see the example of this.

Round Group Betting

This is similar to round betting, except the rounds are grouped together to give you a better shot at winning.  For example a bet on Felix Sturm to win in rounds 1 – 3 pays out at odds of +1800.  Sam Soliman winning in rounds 7-9 pays out at +4000.

Fight Outcome

Felix Sturm by KO, TKO or Disqualification +375
Felix Sturm by Decision or Technical Decision -250
Sam Soliman by KO, TKO or Disqualification +1500
Sam Soliman by Decision or Technical Decision +700
Draw or Technical Draw +2000

The fight outcome prop bet is one of the most interesting in boxing and there can be quite a bit of value found if you have a good idea of how the fight is going to play out.  In this fight a knockout is not expected by either fighter, but if you think Soliman has the ability to catch Sturm at some point in the 12 round bout then you could be in for a strong +1500 payday.

To learn more about either fighter check out their Wikipedia pages: Felix Sturms wiki orSam Solimans wiki.

Boxing is a sport that doesn’t have a great deal of prop bets to choose from, but it is possible to find value bets if you know a great deal about the sport and the fighters.
