Odds to Win 2015 NFL SUPER BOWL XLIX after week 2

Let’s take a look at the top 6 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX (according to Bet365) and who I think will win based on what I saw in week 2 of the 2014 NFL Season, this is something I will do each week during the season.

Team: current Bet365 odds – weekly result  (season record)

SeattlehelmetSeattle Seahawks: 4/1 – Lost 30-21 at Chargers. (1-1) Quite a bit of a letdown for the Seahawks in week 2 as the Chargers went at their defense (especially Richard Sherman) and were quite successful in doing it. San Diego racked up a total of 377 yards on the vaunted defense. I still think this team is scary good but they got knocked off their pedestal a little bit in the loss to the Chargers. I hate to be the next team to face them (the Broncos!).

Denver Broncos: 4/1- Won 24-17 vs Chiefs. (2-0) The Broncos jumped out to a 2-0 record after 2 weeks with their inter-divisional victory versus the Chiefs. Quarterback Peyton Manning was 21 of 26 for 242 passing yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. Denver only tallied 46 plays in the game compared to Kansas City’s 75 plays. The one negative of week 2 for the Broncos was the fact that they only scored 3 2nd half points after putting up 21 points before halftime. Manning threw the ball to 5 different receivers and 3 of the receivers got touchdowns. If the offense can continue to spread the ball around like that they’ll excel for most of the season, it’s hard for defenses to shut down a whole team (instead of just a couple guys). Their battle with Seattle this week should be interesting. Let’s see if they are still wiping off the bad taste left in their mouth from the Super Bowl beat down.

SFhelmetSan Francisco 49ers: 8/1 – Lost 28-20 vs Bears. (1-1) The 49ers had what seemed to be a comfortable 20-7 lead heading to the 4th quarter in their Sunday night battle with the Bears. However, the Bears rallied with 3 offensive touchdowns in the final quarter. Quarterback Colin Kapernick was picked off 3 times during the game. The 49ers turned the ball over a total of 4 times. To add on to the defeat it was their first ever regular season game at their new stadium in Santa Clara. This week they face the 2-0 Cardinals in what could be an early must win game for San Francisco unless they want to fall a full 2 games back of the Cards through 3 weeks of the season.

NEhelmetNew England Patriots: 10/1 – Won 30-7 at Vikings. (1-1) After the disappointing week 1 loss the Patriots had a much easier time of it in Minnesota. Quarterback Tom Brady finished 14 of 21 for 149 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. The Patriots defense picked off Vikings QB Matt Cassel 4 times. I’m not sure their week 2 win versus a Vikings team missing star running back Adrian Peterson was a total gauge of how good the Patriots can be but at least they got in the win column. They should have another fairly easy time in week 3 as they host the 0-2 Raiders.

GBhelmetGreen Bay Packers: 14/1 – Won 31-24 vs Jets. (1-1) For the 2nd week in a row the Packers looked sluggish but at least in week 2 the offensive finally came to life and prevailed after being down by 18 points. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was 25 of 42 for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. Receiver Jordy Nelson caught 9 passes for a career-high 209 yards and 1 touchdown. This week they travel to Detroit to face NFC North foe the Lions. Their defense is going to have to play much better against a dangerous Lions offense.

Cincinnati Bengals: 15/1 –  Won 24-10 vs Falcons. (2-0) The Bengals had to overcome the injury to star wide receiver A.J. Green in their week 2 home victory versus the Falcons. Green suffered aggravated an already injured toe on his right foot. Receiver Mohamed Sanu tried to pick up the slack in Green’s absence as he totaled 3 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. Starting running back Giovani Bernard carried the ball 27 times for 90 yards and a score. He also caught 5 passes for 79 yards. This week Green hopes to play as they take on the Titans. It could be a 3-0 start for the Bengals.

Despite their struggles in week 2 Seattle is still the team to beat, therefore the best bet to win Super Bowl XLIX is the Seattle Seahawks at 4/1. (Bet365)
