NHL Betting – Wednesday December 3rd, 2014

I was 1-0 in my first foray in to NHL predicting last Tuesday. Going to try my hand at it again this week.

St. Louis Blues (16-6-2, 34 pts) @ Chicago Blackhawks (15-8-1, 31 pts)

Overview: The St. Louis Blues arrive for tonight’s face-off winners of 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5 games. They are 7-3-1 on the road this season. They are 6-1 versus Central division opponents. Tonight is the 1st game of a back to back and is 2nd game of a 4 game road trip. The team is 14th in the league in goals per game with 2.6 per game. They are 3rd in the league in goals against with 2.0 per game. They are 5th in in the league in power play % and 20th in the league in penalty kill %. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko leads the team in points with 26 and in goals with 14. Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk leads the team in assists with 16. In goal tonight for the Blues will be Jake Allen. Allen is 8-2-1 in net on the season. St. Louis is tied with Nashville in 1st place in the Central division. The Chicago Blackhawks have won 3 straight games and 6 of their last 7. They are 7-3-1 at home this season. They are 4-3 versus Central division opponents. Tonight is the start of a brief 2 game home stand. The team is 8th in the league in goals per game with 3.0 per game. They are 2nd in the league in goals against with 2.0 per game. They are 16th in the league in power play % and 1st in the league in penalty kill %. Right wing Patrick Kane leads the team in points with 23 and in goals with 10. Right wing Marian Hossa leads the team in assists with 14th. In goal tonight for the Blackhawks will be Antti Raanta. Raanta is 1-2 in net on the season. Chicago is in 2nd place in the Central division, 3 points behind both St. Louis and Nashville.

This is the 2nd meeting of the season between St. Louis and Chicago. In the 1st meeting the Blues were victorious 3-2 in St. Louis.  After tonight the 2 teams play 3 more times this season.

Prediction: The Blackhawks are really hot right now but news came down today that their main goaltender, Corey Crawford, is out 2-3 weeks with an injury. That won’t change how effective their offense has been but their defense will suffer a bit w/out him the net. The Blues are looking to break a 5 game losing skid in Chicago. Take the St. Louis Blues. Play: Blues -230 (Bet365)
