Odds to Win 2015 NFL SUPER BOWL XLIX after week 5

Let’s take a look at the top 6 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX (according to Bet365) and who I think will win based on what I saw in week 5 of the 2014 NFL Season, this is something I will do each week during the season.

Team: current Bet365 odds – weekly result  (season record)

SeattlehelmetSeattle Seahawks: 10/3 – Won 27-17 at Redskins. (3-1) The Monday night game between the Seahawks and Redskins was not as close as the score suggests. Seattle wide receiver Percy Harvin had 3 touchdowns called back due to penalties. It could have and possibly should have been a blow out. Quarterback Russell Wilson was phenomenal as a passer and a runner. In the passing game he was 18 of 24 for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions. On the ground he rushed 11 times for 122 yards and a touchdown. Running back Marshawn Lynch rushed 17 times for 72 yards to go along with 5 receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. The offense piled up a total of 403 yards. The lone negative in their play was the penalties as they were called for 13 penalties that resulted in a loss of 90 yards. This week they play at 4-1 Dallas.

Denver Broncos: 4/1- Won 41-20 vs Cardinals. (3-1)  The Broncos came back from their bye week with a 41-20 rout of the Cardinals. Quarterback Peyton Manning reached a career milestone as he threw his 500th touchdown pass. For the game Manning was 31 of 47 for 479 yards and 4 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas caught 8 balls for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns. Starting running back Montee Ball was injured during the game but backup Ronnie Hillman filled in rather nicely as he rushed 15 times for 64 yards. The Denver offense racked up 568 total yards. The team had 24 first downs to AZ’s 9. The Broncos defense held the Cardinals to a meager 37 yards on the ground. Lineback Von Miller had 1.5 sacks. This week they play at 1-4 NY Jets.

Green Bay Packers: 10/1 – Won 42-10 vs Vikings. (3-2)  The Packers picked up their 2nd straight win with their 42-10 whipping of the Vikings on Thursday night. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was 12 of 17 for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. Running back Eddie Lacy had his best game of the season thus far as he rushed 13 times for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson only had 1 catch in the game but that one catch was for 66 yards and a score. The Packers scored 14 points in each of the first 3 quarters. The Green Bay defense intercepted Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder 2 times. This week they play at 2-2 Miami.

SFhelmetSan Francisco 49ers: 10/1 – Won 22-17 vs Chiefs. (3-2) The 49ers came up with a gritty week 5 victory at home versus the Chiefs. Quarterback C0lin Kaepernick was 14 of 26 for 201 yards with 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Running back Frank Gore carried the ball 18 times for 107 yards. Wide receivers Brandon Lloyd and Anquan Boldin each had over 70 yards receiving as Lloyd caught 3 balls for 76 yards and Boldin caught 4 for 72 yards. The Niners defense held the Chiefs to 265 total yards. Cornerback Perrish Cox came up with an interception of former San Francisco QB Alex Smith. This week they play on Monday night at 1-3 St. Louis.

San Diego Chargers: 11/1 – Won 31-0 vs Jets. (4-1) The Chargers had a dominating week 5 performance in their 31-0 win vs the Jets. Quarterback Philip Rivers was 20 of 28 for 288 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Rooking running back carried the ball 19 times for 114 yards and a touchdown. He also had 4 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. Veteran tight end Antonio Gates caught 4 passes for 60 yards and 2 scores. The San Diego defense intercepted the Jets 1 time and recovered 1 fumble. The team has won 4 straight games since their week 1 loss to the Cardinals. This week they play at 0-4 Oakland.

NEhelmetNew England Patriots: 12/1 – Won 43-17 vs Bengals. (3-2) After media reports of their supposed demise the Patriots woke up from their slumber and pounded the previously undefeated Bengals 43-17 on Sunday night. Quarterback Tom Brady was 23 of 35 for 292 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Stevan Ridley rushed 27 times for 113 yards and a touchdown. Running back Shane Vereen made the most of his 9 carries as he gained 90 yards on the ground. Tight end Rob Gronkowki had 6 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. The formerly struggling Patriots offense piled up 505 total yards. The defense recovered 3 lost Bengals fumbles. This week they play at 3-2 Buffalo.

If the Seattle Seahawks can continue to get production from Russell Wilson (like the kind he came up with on Monday night) this team will be too overpowering for most teams in the NFL. They are the best bet to win Super Bowl XLIX at 10/3. (Bet365)
