The Patriots got their season off to a good start with a win over the Houston Texans in their season opener, and they will be going for their second win in a row when they play the Jaguars.
Despite being shorthanded at the wide receiver position, Tom Brady completed 26 of 39 passes for 277 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
New England’s defense did a great job against Deshaun Watson, holding the second-year players to 17 of 34 completions for 176 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
To get the win over the Jaguars, the Patriots defense will have to do a lot of the heavy lifting. They will have to keep Leonard Fournette in check and force Blake Bortles to beat them with his arm. If Bortles struggles, the Patriots will have a very good chance of beating the Jaguars.
Jacksonville Jaguars Analysis…
Like the Patriots, the Jaguars got off to a good start, defeating the New York Giants in their season opener.
Since it was the first game of the season, Jacksonville’s defense wasn’t as sharp as they had hoped, but they did a great job of keeping New York’s offense in check. The Jaguars held Eli Manning to 224 yards and one interception on 22 of 37 passes.
Rookie running back Saquon Barkley finished with 106 yards on 18 carries and the team’s only offensive touchdown of the day. Odell Beckham Jr., who missed most of last season with an injury, looked good in his return with 11 catches for 111 yards.
While the Jaguars defense gave up yards, the team didn’t give up touchdowns, forcing the Giants to settle for field goals instead, which made all the difference. The team will try the same strategy this week but will have a tougher time keeping the Patriots out of the end zone than they had with the Giants.

The Patriots are favored to win this game by 1. The over/under on total points scored is 45.
The Patriots are one of the best teams in the league, but they barely survived the Jaguars in the AFC Championship game and needed a couple of lucky breaks to get the win.
